    Ricardo,

I like the part about punctuality a lot, and how to educate people who are usually late.

You might be interested in an article I recently published, managing the meeting from hell.

  2. Eric says:

I just had a participant in my Project send out a cancellation email for one of my Project Meetings. She did not go through me to make the arraignments and she did not include all the meeeting participants. The CEO thinks that this is OK. How should I handle this?

    • I am very sorry for my delay. Your comment were moved to my junk folder. Sorry.

First of all I would suggest you to talk to her. It seems for me that the problem is more related to your empowerment in your project than a meeting related problem.
Explain to her your rule and the commitment with the project.
If ths doesn’t work, talk to your CEO. I suppose he/she is the project sponsor.

Explain how critical is the team engagement and how critical is to respect your role as PM to drive the project to success. Maybe he/she thinks it is ok because he doesn’t understand the severity of this kind of act to your project team moral. Always refrain from discuss this using statements related to corporate power and politics. As you know, all companies suffer with problems and internal disputes. This is part of the business. Do not put your statements in this level, otherwise your CEO will think that you are complaining only because you felt that your power wasn’t respected. Use always the project and team moral as your background in this discussion.

I hope this can help. Sorry again for my delay.

    Ricardo,
